Honey Beer Winter Warmer
The view from my hotel room right now is palm trees, blue skies, and sunshine, so it’s hard to imagine needing this winter warmer right now. San Diego, you have amazing weather! But no doubt I’ll make it again in a week when I come back to Toronto.
I heard you got snow and hail today Toronto! Home sweet home.
I remember my dad warming up beer on cold winter nights when I was much younger. Not for me, of course. So I decided to revisit this drink now that I can actually drink it.
The hot alcohol warms you up from the inside out. The honey brings out the caramel flavour of the beer and the spices add to the warm vibes.
This is a perfect drink after coming in from the cold, maybe after a particularly snowy day.
Beer Winter Warmer
2 cups strong lager like Zywiec
3 tbsp honey (or to taste, this was a medium sweetness)
Cinnamon stick
Star anise
Pinch of cloves
Pinch of ground ginger
Warm beer on medium low in a small sauce pan with all ingredients until steaming hot. Strain into glasses and enjoy!
